Even Writers Lose Their Words Sometimes so Here’s Something Else

Listen to this post by clicking play

I’ve felt pretty unmotivated lately. I’m trying to manage so many emotions I lose myself in them sometimes. Just as painters lose their stroke, dancers lose their footing, love loses its spark, writers lose their words sometimes. I think that’s what’s happening to me recently.

Instead of forcing words to come that I don’t currently have; I have been trying to focus on the good each day brings regardless of how lonely, or happy, or lost I feel. Each day I take a moment to reflect on my small victories and I write them down. A reminder that I’m moving forward in the right direction. Someone once told me that it’s the little things that matter most. Here are my little things:

  1. Family dinner with Bree
  2. FaceTime calls with my family
  3. A very good workout
  4. Spontaneous date night
  5. Some downtime by myself
  6. Dance parties in the kitchen
  7. Making new friends on a boat
  8. Listening to a thunderstorm
  9. Packages from Amazon
  10. Feeling pretty without makeup on
  11. Quick trips home
  12. Beach nights
  13. Cuddles with my pets
  14. Quality family time
  15. Indulging in cheese flown in from Italy
  16. Wake surfing session
  17. Catching up with Sammy & Jacob
  18. Laughing so hard I spit out coffee
  19. Deep talks in the middle of the night
  20. Making myself a good healthy meal
  21. Sharing some poetry for the first time
  22. Clean bed sheets
  23. Good margs; great company
  24. A long nap without interruption

I think sometimes we forget how lucky we are to live such easy lives. That our only concerns are feeling a bit lonely, a little lost, slightly sad but incredibly blessed. I know how beautiful life is, I capture it every way I can. I try to hold onto moments and soak in sunshine. I fall in love with poetry and books. I immerse in quiet moments but live for chaos. I believe there’s more good in the world than bad. And I hope wherever you are and whatever you’re facing you can enjoy your little moments too.
